TMJ, Migraines & Jaw Pain
Relief for jaw pain, clicking, clenching, and tension headaches through bite analysis and occlusal therapy.
Jaw pain, morning headaches, clicking or popping, teeth that look shorter and flatter than they used to. These are signs your jaw joints and bite may be under chronic strain. Many people clench or grind for years without knowing it, until the symptoms arrive.
A conservative, diagnosis-first approach
We start by understanding the problem: your joints, muscles, bite, and wear patterns. Treatment usually begins with a custom occlusal guard. Ours are made from a 3D digital scan of your teeth (no impression goop) and 3D-printed for a precise fit, so they redistribute force and let the joint and muscles rest. Targeted bite adjustments come in when they’re warranted. The goal is lasting relief through the least invasive means possible.
Grinding also damages teeth, so treating it protects your fillings, crowns, and veneers too. If jaw pain or headaches are part of your life, mention them at your next visit, or call us to come in sooner.
Common questions
What is TMJ disorder?
The temporomandibular joints (TMJ) connect your jaw to your skull. When the joint, muscles, or bite are strained, often by clenching or grinding, the result can be jaw pain, clicking, limited opening, ear discomfort, and headaches.
Can my headaches really come from my bite?
They can. Chronic clenching and an unbalanced bite overwork the jaw and temple muscles, which is a common contributor to tension headaches and migraine-like pain. A bite evaluation can tell us whether your jaw is part of the picture.
How is TMJ pain treated?
Treatment is conservative first: typically a custom-fitted occlusal guard (nightguard), bite adjustments where appropriate, and habit and posture coaching. Most patients improve without anything invasive.
