Preventive Care
Teeth Cleanings & Preventive Care
Gentle, thorough cleanings from our experienced hygiene team. Regular cleanings are the foundation of a healthy mouth.
A professional cleaning removes the hardened plaque (tartar) that brushing and flossing can’t reach. It also gives us a regular chance to check your gums and catch small problems while they’re still small and inexpensive to fix.
Your cleaning is performed by one of our registered dental hygienists and paired with an exam. Because we practice Complete Health dentistry, we look beyond your teeth: gum health, signs of grinding or airway trouble, and the oral conditions research has linked to the rest of the body.
What to expect
- Gentle removal of plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, with ultrasonic scalers that make the job faster and more comfortable
- Polishing and flossing
- Gum measurements to screen for periodontal disease
- Oral cancer screening and an exam with the dentist
- Straightforward recommendations, with no pressure
If it’s been a few years since your last cleaning, don’t worry. We’re a judgment-free office, and getting back on track is easier than you think.
Common questions
How often should I have my teeth cleaned?
For most patients, a professional cleaning and exam every six months is the standard recommendation. If you have gum disease or other risk factors, we may suggest coming in more often. We’ll tailor the schedule to you.
Does a dental cleaning hurt?
A routine cleaning shouldn’t hurt. Our hygienists are gentle, and if you have sensitive teeth or get nervous at the dentist, tell us. We’ll slow down and adjust.
Will my insurance cover cleanings?
Most PPO dental plans cover preventive cleanings and exams. We’re in-network with Delta Dental Premier, and our front desk will verify your coverage for free before your visit.
